Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Deseret "Dez" Benjamin Hickman, age 92, died May 9, 1991 in Richfield, Utah.
He was born February 13, 1899 in Caineville, Utah, a son of William Deseret and Ida Rosella Arthur Hickman. He married Florence Thelma Holt, July 23, 1923, in Loa, Utah; marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on December 9, 1952. He was a rancher and a farmer. An active member of the LDS Church. Served as a Sunday School teacher, Bishop of the Torrey Ward, and Stake High Councilman. He and his wife have lived in Richfield for the past 26 years, prior to that they made their home in Torrey. He was a outfitter for tourist for horse packing in the Wayne County area for many years.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma Hickman, Richfield; children, Bernece and Verl Black, Monroe; Sherild and Iva Mae Hickman, Las Vegas, Nevada; Benny and Ina Hickman, Midvale; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jet Smith and Madge Ekker, both of Torrey. Preceded in death by a daughter Shirley Hickman; a granddaughter, Shryl Lynn Hickman; a brother, Joe Hickman; and a sister, Laura Mott.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13, 1991 at 11 a.m. in the Springer-Turner Funeral Home Chapel, with Bishop David Christensen, of the Richfield 5th LDS Ward conducting, 260 No. 400 West, in Richfield; where friends may call for viewing, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Torrey Cemetery, under the direction of the Springer-Turner Funeral Home.
