Lida Margaret Waugaman McPheeters, 79, passed away April 30, 1991 of heart failure.
Lida M. McPheeters was born March 3, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Cummings Waugaman and (Mina) Margaret Munson Waugaman. Lida was the second daughter in a family of eight children.Lida married Leonard Harry McPheeters July 1, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Leonard worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 37 years as an Executive Regional Retail Controller. She and Leonard lived in Pico Rivera, California prior to retirement. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary July 1, 1985. Leonard passed away July 16, 1986 in Mapleton, Utah.
She attended East High School in Salt Lake City and later the LDS Business College. Lida has continually been involved in various educational pursuits throughout her life. Lida worked as a secretary for the Prudential Life Insurance Co. until she married. The marriage brought forth six children.
Lida combined her home responsibilities with active service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has had an in depth interest in genealogy, church history, and taught the Gospel Doctrine class and Seminary for years. She was a dedicated temple worker in the Provo Temple.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters, Leonard H. McPheeters, Jr., John S. McPheeters, Carol A. McPheeters, all of Mapleton; Janice M. Barber (Bill); Susan L. Bastian (Dick) Provo; and Deborah K. Rice (David), Vancouver, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Elma Frandsen (Kenneth), Janice Jerkins; Lucille Pruitt; Vivian Waugaman; LaVonne Johnson (Norman), San Jose, Calif.; and William C. Waugaman, Santa Marie, Calif. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gordon Waugaman.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 4, 1991, 11 a.m., Mapleton Stake Center, 970 North 400 East. Friends may call Friday evening, 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
