Soprano Lauren Wagner was named first-prize winner in Concert Artists Guild's 40th annual New York Competition, which recently concluded at Merkin Concert Hall in Manhattan.

More than 350 artists from 25 countries entered this year's competition, vying for up to three first prizes valued at more than $35,000 each. Designed to help a winner develop the kind of career that suits his or her particular aspirations, the prize includes free, full-service management, recitals in New York and other cities, a recording contract with Channel Classics of Amsterdam, a specially commissioned work by a composer of the winner's choice and a cash award.
