The Army Corps of Engineers has developed wetlands definitions that could impede road projects along Great Salt Lake, Wasatch Front Regional Council members said.

There is confusion and resentment that the Corps is using an "internal memo as the official wetlands delineation manual," said Davis County Commissioner Gerald Purdy. The public has never had the chance to approve of the corps' policies, he said.Proposed projects along the I-15 corridor, such as the $75.5 million West Davis Highway and expansion of the Salt Lake City International Airport may be obstructed by existing wetlands regulations, said WFRC executive Will Jeffries.

As proposed, the West Davis Highway will cross many acres of wetlands, Jeffries said.
