Royce K. Knight, age 81, died Thursday, May 2, 1991.
He was born January 9, 1910 at Richfield, Utah to Alma and Agnes Anderson Knight. He married Wanda Fenn; they were later divorced. He married Dora Lund January 25, 1948 at Ely, Nevada.Reared and educated in the Richfield area, he graduated from Richfield High School and later attended BYU. In 1957, he was awarded the contract for the Page Airport at Page, Arizona and was the fixed base flight operator and airport manager of that field. In May 1990, the Page Airport was officially named the "Royce K. Knight Field." He was one of the pioneers of Page, Arizona, being very active in all phases of the building and development of Page and Lake Powell areas.
Surviving family members include his wife, Dora; two sons and one daughter: Ken Gerald Knight, Minersville; Utah; Dr. Don Alma Knight, Kansas City, Missouri; and Mrs. Forrest "Norma Jean" DeMille, Las Vegas, Nevada; also 13 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters: Donald Knight, San Simon, Ariz.; Howard Knight, Parowan, Utah; Milo Knight, St. George, Utah; Dan Knight, Battlement Mesa, Colorado; Genevieve Crowther, Aurora, Utah; Mrs. Roy "Enid" Whitlock, Parowan, Utah; and Mrs. Ted "Barbara" Garland, Las Vegas, Nevada. One sister, Lucille Robinson, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 1991, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bloomington LDS 4th Ward, 965 Manzanita Rd. Friends may call at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. and at the chapel Monday, from 9:30-10:30 prior to services. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. In lieu of flowers contributions to the St. George Hospice and the Jullie Home C/O, Dixie Regional Medical Center, are suggested.
