ZZ Top was at the top of the heap as Texans celebrated ZZ Top Day Friday.

Gov. Ann Richards led a Capitol ceremony honoring the Houston-based rock band, which ended its 120-city "Recycler" tour in Austin Friday."You've heard me talk an awful lot about how proud Texas is of its music industry," Richards said. "I can't think of a group better than ZZ Top."

After the ZZ Top ceremony, Richards read a proclamation honoring the prime-time soap opera "Dallas," which ended its 13-year run Friday.

"The show has been seen by hundreds of millions of men, women and children and has made Texas capitalism the wonder of the free world and made Texas Stetsons and boots, buckles and bluejeans the mark of urbane sophistication," the proclamation said.
