Alternative rockers Jane's Addiction, hot off the success of a European tour, have announced their summer "Lallapalooza" concert series - featuring a number of other bands.
The brainchild of Jane's Addiction's lead singer Perry Ferrell and drummer Stephen Perkins, the tour is billed as a "caravaning summer festival" and will begin July 18 at Phoenix's Compton Terrace. Other July dates include three shows in California and a concert in Seattle.Besides the music, the festival event will offer an art show, concession stand serving exotic foods and booths dishing up controversial and conflicting ideas, according to Def American Recordings, which is representing the tour.
Promoters hope the concert can capture the spirit of Woodstock and other counterculture concerts of the past.
Ferrell said in a recent edition of "Spin" magazine that the tour will probably be the last for his Los Angeles-based band.
Bands on the lineup for the festival so far include Siousie and the Banshees, Living Colour, Nine Inch Nails, Ice-T, Butthole Surfers and the Rollins Band.
