Brad Barton, a senior track and field athlete from Salmon, Idaho, has been named Athlete of the Year by the Weber State Athletic Department.

Barton earned four varsity letters each in Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track. In 1990-91, he qualified for the NCAA National Meet in each of those sports, the first Weber State track athlete in the history of the school to do so in the same year.He helped the Wildcats to the 1990 Big Sky Conference Men's Cross Country Championship and the first-ever District 7 championship. He qualified for the NCAA Indoor Meet in the mile and 3,000 meter run.

Barton earned NCAA All-America honors by finishing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 1991 NCAA Outdoor Meet in Eugene, Ore.
