The body of a 46-year-old white male hit by a train was found Monday night on the Union Pacific railroad tracks 6 1/2 miles north of Delta Monday night.
Notified of the incident about 9:55 p.m., the Millard County Sheriff's Department believes the man was a transient riding the train who fell off when the train was switching cars on a siding, said Sgt. Chuck Peterson.The man was pronouced dead at the scene. His body was taken later to the medical examiner's office in Salt Lake City.
The victim's name is being withheld while police try to find out if he has any relatives. Police said they have also notified hotels in the area that cater to transients.
