BOOKLET AIDS THE ELDERLY

People over 65 take more than 30 percent of prescription medicines and buy 40 percent of the medicines sold over the counter, according to studies. Figuring out what to take and how to make sure you're getting what you need can be difficult.

The non-profit Council on Family Health has published a free booklet, "Medicines and You: A Guide for Older Americans," to help. It considers issues to discuss with your doctor, rec-ord-keeping, side effects and complications. The booklet is available free by writing the Council on Family Health, 225 Park Avenue South, Suite 1700, New York, NY 10003.
