A trio of Scouts and their leader walked out of Holbrook Canyon Wednesday morning after spending the night in the mountains when a hike took longer than expected.
Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Fluckiger said a Scout leader drove another leader and three 12-year-old Scouts, all from Bountiful, to a spot near the old Tuttle Mine on the Skyline Road above Bountiful Tuesday evening. The four expected to hike down the canyon before dark and meet the second leader at the bottom, Fluckiger said. When they didn't arrive by around midnight, the second leader became concerned and called the sheriff.
Fluckiger said about a dozen of the department's search and rescue unit members were called and mobilized at the canyon, waiting for daylight to begin their search. At about 6:30 a.m. the four walked out, Fluckiger reported, all in good shape physically.
