DOWNED PILOT IDENTIFIED

State park officials have identified the pilot of a single-engine aircraft who landed on a road Wednesday morning on Antelope Island State Park as Orlin Smith, 61, Ogden.

Smith was flying from the Ogden Municipal Airport to Wendover, Nev., when the engine of his Piper Tri Pacer lost power, according to park manager Mitch Larsson.The pilot landed the plane on a road near the Bridger Bay area of the park, on the island's northwest corner. Smith was alone in the plane and the landing was successful, with no injuries or damage to the airplane.
