Very few people showed an interest in spending a night in the new Davis County jail.
The dignitary lockup in the new $20 million justice complex scheduled for Friday, June 14, has been canceled because only three persons signed up.Sheriff Glenn Clary had invited local political and community leaders, the press and others to spend the night in a cell in the jail. The guests got a meal, a bunk and an "I Spent the Night in the Davis County Jail" T-shirt for $25.
The slumber party originally was scheduled for May 31 but pushed back to this week because the 350-bed facility wasn't completed.
Inmates - other than the personally invited, paying guests of the sheriff - are scheduled to begin transferring into the facility from the current jail in downtown Farmington by the end of this month or first part of July.
