MD'S LICENSE TO PRESCRIBE MEDICATION IS REVOKED

State licensing regulators have revoked the license of a Provo physician to administer and prescribe medication and placed his license to practice on probation, an order said.

Dr. Paul F. Olson, chairman of the ophthalmology department at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, illegally prescribed medication for himself and his wife, the order said.Late last year, Olson surrendered his controlled-substance license to the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing and began drug addiction therapy. Last February, Olson pleaded guilty to four felony counts of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances, the order said.

Olson's attorney, Elliott J. Williams, said he hasn't discussed the order with his client, but he anticipates Olson will comply with the order and not appeal it.
