2 WRONGFUL-DEATH SUITS DISMISSED

Two 4th District judges have dismissed wrongful-death lawsuits filed by the family of a woman slain last year at the Utah State Hospital.

Robert Riding, representing the family of Betty J. Done, filed the suits earlier this year against Donald Lyons and the Utah State Hospital. Lyons, a patient at the hospital, is charged with second-degree murder for stabbing Done on April 23, 1990, while she was working in the canteen area of the cafeteria. He was found incompetent to stand trial and is once again a patient at the hospital.Riding was seeking special and general damages to be determined by the court. The suits alleged that Lyons had a past history of violent behavior and that hospital personnel failed to adequately supervise his behavior.

Judge George E. Ballif dismissed the suit against Lyons for lack of prosecution.
