Roy Brown of Southern Utah county qualified for the National High Schgool Rodeo Finals in Shawnee, Kansas next month in three events, won three saddles and placed second in another event in taking the boys' all-around championship of the Utah High School Rodeo Association Finals held Saturday night at Heber City.
Brown totaled 597.29 points to 414.71 for his nearest rival and team roping partner Justin McCourt of Carbon.In the girls all around Natalie Martin of Grantsville won only the short go-around (Saturday night's rodeo) but she totaled 487.15 points to take the girls all-around championship over last year's winner and this year's runner-up Amy Allen of Lehi who had 453.24 points.
Team scores weren't kept but the Spikers of Ogden won the team title.
Rookies of the year were Cody Penrod of Southern Utah County and Jody Morgan of Morgan.
Brown won saddles for taking the all-around title, the team roping with partner McCourt and the calf roping championship.
