DEATH: MARTHA PADJEN

Martha Padjen Shepherd, of Portland, Oregon, died June 15, 1991 at the L home of her son and daughter-L in-law in Salt L Lake City, follow- ing a short ill- ness.

She was born June 6, 1915 in Bingham Can-L yon to Lucille L and Mike Pad-H jen. She married Hodson Shep-L herd, and to-L gether they founded and man- aged Shepherd Oil Company, a wholesale oil distribution busi- ness in Idaho and Utah. After her husband's death in 1971, Martha moved to Portland Oregon, L where she pursued an earlier in- terest in acting as a member of the Oregon Senior Theatre En- semble. She also appeared reg- ularly in television and print com- mercials. A sports woman and active community volunteer, she made a difference in all the orga- nizations of which she was a member. The uncommon cour- age and determination which she displayed during the last three years of her life, were an example to all who knew her.Martha Shepherd is survived by her sister, Mary Johnson, Portland, Oregon; her son, Vincent Shep- herd; her daughter-in-law, Karen Shepherd; and her grandchil- dren, Heather and DylanL

The funeral Mass will be cele- brated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catho- lic Church, 670 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call one half hour before the service. Committal will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive. The family asks that contributions, in lieu of flow- ers, be made in her name, to the Westminster College, Jewlett L Center, 1845 South 1300 East, SLC, Ut 84105.
