ST. LOUIS LAWYER ELECTED TO LEAD THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON AGING

A St. Louis lawyer with more than 40 years of experience has been elected chairwoman of the National Council on Aging.

Frankie Muse Freeman was elected at the organization's 41st annual conference, held in Miami Beach. She had been an NCOA board member and succeeds Elva Walker of Minneapolis.NCOA is a non-profit group whose members are organizations, volunteers, professionals in aging and related fields.

Freeman was appointed by President Johnson to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and remained on the council for 16 years.
