A former accounting technician at Timpanogos Mental Health Center pleaded not guilty Friday in 4th District Court to two counts of tax evasion.
Deanna Westwood, 51, Spokane, Wash., entered the pleas before Judge Ray M. Harding. Westwood will go to trial on the two third-degree felony charges July 22 and 23.Westwood is accused of not reporting about $170,000 on her state income-tax returns for 1986 and 1987. She was one of seven Timp employees who lost their jobs in May 1988 after a state audit revealed that more than $3.5 million had been misused.
If found guilty, Westwood faces a possible sentence of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
