The funeral for Jack C. Thompson, prominent Salt Lake area life insurance agent, is scheduled for Thursday, June 20.
Mr. Thompson, 71, died June 15, 1991, of complications of progressive lung fibrosis, incurred during wartime service.Mr. Thompson served as president of the Salt Lake Association of Life Underwriters and a board member on several insurance organizations. He was named "Man-of-the-Year" by New York Life, as well as Life Underwriters Association and General Agents and Managers Association. In 1987, he was honored with the prestigious John Ivan Johnson memorial award.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot and combat-intelligence officer.
He was active in United Fund events, fund-raising activities for Boy Scouts of American and Camp Kostopulos. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of veterans groups, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the LDS Church Mount Olympus 6th Ward, 4407 S. Fortuna Way (3650 East). Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, or at the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
