The body of a middle-age male was retrieved from an overflow basin on Big Cottonwood Creek just west of the Old Mill about noon Wednesday.
The man, who was only partially clothed, had not been identified at press time. He appeared to be white and in his 50s.Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs theorized that the body entered the water upstream and was carried to the basin by fast-moving spring runoff water in Big Cottonwood Creek.
He had injuries that would be consistent with being washed downstream. He probably had not been in the water for more than a day or so.
Deputies said a woman walking her dogs saw something unusual in the water and then returned to the area to confirm what she had seen before calling the sheriff's department at 10:50 a.m.
