A Florida Power Corp. nuclear plant leaked radioactive coolant, but a utility spokesman said Saturday the incident posed no danger.

Control room operators noticed pressurized water that circulates around the reactor core and keeps it from overheating was leaking Thursday night at a rate of 40 to 48 gallons a minute from a valve stem inside the reactor building. The equivalent of about two bathtubs full of the coolant leaked from a closed system and drained into a collection system designed to catch leaks, then was circulated back into the coolant system, he said.
