UTAH OPERA COMPANY WILL PERFORM OUTDOORS AT PALISADE STATE PARK

Alpine Valley, the home of Palisade State Park, will resound to the sound of music in an outdoor concert at 7 o'clock tonight.

Utah Opera Company members will present a program that includes a half hour of classical numbers and another half hour of popular numbers from productions such as "Oklahoma" and "Porgy and Bess," according to Norm Hersman, park superintendent. The performance will take place on the lower portion of the park's golf course, Hersman said. Visitors will sit above the performers and have a view of the lake, the campground and the valley in the background. And if it's a typical June night, myriad stars will be visible overhead.

Visitors are encouraged to bring pillows, blankets and lawn chairs, he added. Adequate parking will be available nearby.

The concert is free. And the acoustics should be excellent, judging by the performances of barbershop quartets recently, Hersman said.

Palisade State Park is located seven miles south of Manti or two miles east of Sterling, off Highway 89.
