The family of a South Jordan man who requires a lung transplant is sponsoring several fund-raising activities to meet the costs of the operation.

Ralph Olsen, 41, has a hereditary form of emphysema. His insurance company has denied payment for the transplant operation, and the family needs to raise $150,000.So far, Jackie Olsen said they have raised $52,000 for her husband through aluminum drives, candy sales, donations and several other projects have raised $52,000 for her husband.

A horse-pulling match is set for Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Riverton Arena, 12700 S. 1300 West, and donations will be accepted at the door.

In addition, an Old Farm Boutique selling hand-made projects and donated items is set for Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 12689 S. 1300 West in Riverton.

Donations are also accepted at any Draper Bank & Trust, or may be mailed to the Ralph B. Olsen Trust Fund; c/o Draper Bank & Trust; 10380 S. 1700 West, South Jordan, UT 84065.

"I know we'll make it with everyone's help," Mrs. Olsen said.
