Six students from several Utah Valley schools won top awards in the Freedom Festival's 1991 essay contest.
The essays centered on the theme "The Price of Freedom."Michael Litchfield of Mountain View High School took first place in the high school division. He received a $200 savings bond.
The junior high school division winner was Brady Whitehead of Orem Junior High School. He was awarded a $100 savings bond.
There were four winners in the elementary school division: Jamie Taylor, Windsor Elementary; Lynda Sequeira, Maeser Elementary; Randy Black, Orem Elementary, and Kara Provstgaard, Taylor Elementary. They all received $50 savings bonds.
The winners will be featured on a float in the Grand Parade on July 4.
