The Miami Heat gave Rony Seikaly a long-term contract extension Friday that puts him near the salary level of the NBA's highest paid centers.

Seikaly's contract had one more year to run plus an option year, but Heat managing partner Lewis Schaffel said, "It would be wrong to allow him to remain under his current contract and let him be underpaid."Neither Schaffel nor Steve Kauffman, Seikaly's agent, would disclose the terms of the contract, but both placed him in ability just below the league's top three centers - David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing.

That would put Seikaly in the $2 million-per-year range.
