For the 10th summer in a row the Wassermann Festival of Chamber Music, featuring the renowned New World String Quartet, will be held at Utah State University, offering a mix of classical and contemporary-music concerts.
Featured will be six concerts over four weeks, beginning with a performance Wednesday, June 26, by the New World Quartet. Their program will include music of Beethoven, Brahms and Ned Rorem. Starting time is 8 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall of USU's Chase Fine Arts Center.Named after USU music professor Irving Wassermann, the festival offers participants the opportunity to study and receive coaching on their individual playing. Among the guest musicians this year are pianists Edna Golandsky and Louis Nagel, along with USU faculty members and local musicians.
