A 27-year-old Layton man is in critical condition after the delivery truck he was driving ran into the back of a semitrailer truck Monday evening.

The semi, northbound on I-15, was slowing to make an exit into Springville when the delivery truck, owned by Mountain States Plants out of Layton, ran into the rear of the semi at 5:45 p.m.When Utah Highway Trooper Doug Adams arrived on the scene "the two trucks were together and the cab of the delivery truck was smashed and had pinned the driver in."

The driver was removed from the truck with extrication devices and was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition Monday night.

The semi driver and his passenger were also treated for minor injuries at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

The semi, licensed in Alabama, was carrying a load of Pinesol cleaner to Springville from Washington. Adams said no chemical spill resulted from the accident.
