ROH, BUSH TO FOCUS ON SECURITY COOPERATION

When President Roh Tae-woo and President Bush meet in Washington next week a major topic will be security cooperation between South Korea and the United States, a senior government official said Wednesday.

Lee Joung-binn, assistant foreign minister for political affairs, said a changing security environment in Asia made desirable "some forward-looking coordination" in security cooperation between the two allies.Roh will leave Seoul for San Francisco Saturday on the first leg of a scheduled state visit to Washington, and will meet Bush Tuesday. The next day, Roh will depart for Ottawa for a state visit to Canada and a meeting with Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
