A gift of almost $10,000 to Weber State University from the Ezekiel R. and Edna Wattis Dumke Foundation has helped purchase a new Steinway grand piano for the college of arts and humanities.

As part of an effort to build Weber State's program for aspiring music teachers, additional high-quality pianos were needed for student use, said Sherwin W. Howard, dean of the college.Having a Steinway available for piano majors will significantly strengthen the academic program, Howard said. It also should improve the university's evaluation by the National Association of Schools of Music, an accrediting organization that considers the age, number and quality of instruments available to students, he said.
