A judge has ruled that the Weber County community of Taylor can pull out of the new city of West Haven, formed by voters last year along with the former towns of Wilson and Kaneville.
Second District Court Judge Stanton Taylor announced his decision after no one voiced any objections to a disconnection petition filed by Taylor residents.West Haven will officially become a city on July 1.
Proponents of the disconnection collected signatures from more than 70 percent of the registered voters and property owners from the Taylor area.
The three communities were incorporated in October in a special election. The incorporation effort was begun by area residents to avoid being annexed into Roy.
Many of Taylor's residents didn't feel they were threatened by Roy annexation.
