HOSTAGES ANDERSON, STEEN REPORTED IN DECLINING HEALTH

U.S. hostages Terry Anderson and Alann Steen are in deteriorating health, the usually reliable Ash Shiraa magazine said Friday.

The magazine, which first broke the Reagan administration's arms-for-hostages deal, quoted a source as saying the two U.S. hostages have been very ill lately, and the 55-year-old Steen is not responding to medical treatment. The source refused to comment about whether this might lead to their release or whether it could be a motivation for finding a settlement for the hostages' plight. Further details concerning their reported ailments were not revealed.
