CELEBRATE 4TH WITH DESNEWS

Fireworks, sky divers, patriotic music, an all-day picnic and a tribute to American military troops are scheduled for the Deseret News July 4th Spectacular at Sugarhouse Park.

The free fireworks show and picnic have been a tradition for the past 42 years, drawing as many as 40,000 people for the daylong Independence Day celebration.The firework will begin at 9:50 p.m. A program of patriotic music, beginning at 8:50 p.m., will precede the pyrotechnics.

At 9 p.m., in a salute to independence and to American military troops, a team of sky divers from the Cedar Valley Sky Diving Club will jump out of a plane and trail red, white and blue smoke behind them as they drift toward Earth.

Ample free parking is available throughout Sugar House within a 10-minute walk of the park, located at 1300 East and 2100 South.
