S.L. STUDENT NAMED NATIONAL FINALIST IN AMERICAN EXPRESS GEOGRAPHY CONTEST

Adina Loeb, a Salt Lake high school student, has been named a national finalist in the American Express Geography Competition.

Her project, entitled "Old World and New World Meet: My Family's Immigration Story," traces the history of her family and its reasons for immigrating to the United States and Israel."I used my family's history to demonstrate how immigrants could adapt to a new way of life without having to give up their cultural heritage," Loeb said.

Competing with more than 2,500 junior high and high school students from 44 states, Loeb received an engraved certificate for being one of 20 finalists in the nationwide competition.
