The University of Utah women's basketball team picked up a pair of summer honors, when head coach Elaine Elliott was selected as assistant coach for the 1991 United States Junior National Team and Lady Ute forward Mikki Kane earned a berth at the U.S. Olympic Festival. Elliott, who was the winning coach at the 1990 U.S. Olympic Festival, will assist Junior National Team head coach Jim Foster of Vanderbilt in the upcoming event. The Junior National Team is picked from the U.S. Olympic Festival teams and is comprised of players aged 21 or younger. Kane, a junior on Utah's 1990-91, 20-10, WAC Tournament champion team, is eligible to qualify for the Junior National Team after becoming the first Ute ever to earn a non-alternate berth at the U.S. Olympic Festival. Kane will compete for the West team.
