Marjorie Snow, teacher of English at Taylorsville High School, has won the 1991 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Brigham Young University Alumni Association.
This is the eighth year the Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Board have given the award to honor excellence in high school teaching.Snow received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah. She taught at Olympus and Cottonwood High Schools before joining the faculty at Taylorsville in 1981. At the high school, Snow teaches advanced placement English, American literature, effective writing, practical English and novels classes.
Last year, all of the students in her AP English classes passed the AP test. She is concerned about her students' progress and finds teaching challenging and rewarding. Her hobbies include family activities, reading, cross-country skiing and working out at the gym.
