The Salt Lake County offices of United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage Loan Corp. closed 363 mortgage loans in the first quarter of 1991, 29 percent over the 281 transactions closed in the first quarter of 1990.
Loan volume for the first quarter was $25.5 million, a 29 percent increase over the $19.7 million in the same period a year ago.United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage Loan Corp. combined rank first in the county in the number of recordings and loan volume with 10 percent of the county market share.
Mary Garner, vice president of residential lending, said, "We are pleased to see both United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage experience growth across the board this quarter. The increased number of transactions and higher loan volume are due in part to the favorable interest-rate environment and growing strength of the Utah economy."
Dollar volume for all United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage offices in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis and Weber counties has increased 26 percent from $31.9 million in loans in the first quarter of 1990 to $43.5 million in the same period of 1991.
