DEATH: REV. GENNARO VERDI

Rev. Gennaro Francis Verdi, 71, died June 3, 1991 in Salt Lake City.

Born April 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Aniello and Virginia Famgliano Verdi. Attended Venard Apostolic College in Park Green, Pennsylvania, 1941-43. Attended Maryknoll Seminary, 1944-47, in Maryknoll, New York and St. Mary's Seminary, 1947-51. Ordination May 19, 1951 at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ordained for the Diocese of Salt Lake City. He served as Pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Dragerton (East Carbon City, Utah), 1960-75. Pastor of St. Piaus The Tenth, 1975-82. Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Magna, 1982-85. Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish in Copperton, 1985-89. Retired in 1989.Survived by sisters, Mrs. Lucy Piazza, Vineland, New Jersey; Rosalie Argondizza, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brothers, Louis and Neal Verdi, both Philadelphia; nieces, Sabina Verdi, Jean Barone; sister-in-law, Angelina Verdi. Preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Verdi.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 7, 1991, 11 a.m., St. Ann's Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South. Vigil service will be held Thursday, 7 p.m. at the church, where friends may call Thursday, 6-7 p.m. Committal Service, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
