President Bush is jogging again on the White House grounds and has gained much of the weight back he lost when stricken with a thyroid-triggered heart irregularity a month ago, his spokesman says.
"He looks to me to be at full strength and off and running," said spokesman Marlin Fitzwater on Thursday.Bush was hospitalized for two days in early May with an irregular heartbeat after he tired while jogging at Camp David. He was diagnosed with Graves' disease, an ailment caused by an overactive thyroid.
The illness caused him to drop 15 pounds, bringing the president's weight down to 185. Bush has indicated he likes the leaner look.
"He's gained much of his weight back. He's trying to hold at 190, but he's over 190. He won't say what he is," Fitzwater told reporters before heading to Atlanta with the president to visit a church-run day-care program.
