State and federal agencies in Richfield are seeking people to fight forest fires and work as protective forces during fire emergencies.

A training session will be held Tuesday through Friday, June 11-14, at the Sevier Valley Applied Technology Center.The firefighting group was requested by the Fishlake National Forest, Richfield District of the Bureau of Land Management, and the southern region of the state Division of Lands and Forestry. Participants must be available to fight fires for two- to three-week periods if necessary, pass a physical fitness test, complete required training, and be 18 years of age or older.

Names and telephone numbers of those authorized to work in the summer fire program will be placed on a list at the Interagency Fire Dispatch Center in Richfield. Those on the list will be on call during the fire season and will receive $7.16 per hour when called to work.
