RIBBONS ON TONY SHOW SYMBOLIZED AIDS

Scripps Howard News Service NEW YORK - Just in case you've been wondering, the red ribbons worn by many presenters on last Sunday night's Tony Awards broadcast were in memory of colleagues who had died of AIDS.

According to Pittsburgh Press columnist Ed Blank, "Considering how many wore the V-shaped ribbons, a few words of explanation to the home audience would have been appropriate."
