LOOK LIKE A CHARACTER IN DESNEWS COMICS?

SHARE LOOK LIKE A CHARACTER IN DESNEWS COMICS?

Lots of people look like Elvis. Or Kenny Rogers. Or Madonna (who sort of looks like Marilyn Monroe). That's easy. Also kind of flattering.

We're looking for people who look like Ziggy or Geech or Blondie. If you think you or one of your children or maybe your dog looks like any of the characters on the Deseret News comics pages, enter our Contest No. 7: Comic Strip Live. You could win our grand prize, a night of laughter and relaxation compliments of the Comedy Oasis and the Marriott Hotel.

Here's what you have to do:

1. Look at all the characters on our comics pages. Look in the mirror. Take a good look at your children and your pets. See if there's a resemblance.

2. Send a picture and a note about whom the picture looks like to: Contest No. 7: Comic Strip Live, Deseret News, P.O. Box 1257, Salt Lake City, UT 84110.

3. Pictures must not be retouched, but entrants can use props or costumes. Don't dress up like The Amazing Spider-man; but if you think you look like Ed in Crankshaft, for example, you can wear an Ed-type hat.

4. Entries must be postmarked no later than July 31. Winners will be announced Aug. 15. Decisions of the judges are final and, as with the Miss America Pageant, may be highly subjective and/or arbitrary.

Grand prize is an evening at the Comedy Oasis, a night's lodging for two at the Salt Lake Marriott, plus breakfast at Allies restaurant.

Second prize is a set of personally autographed "Pickles" comic strips by cartoonist Brian Crane. Runners-up will receive published collections of Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes or Ziggy cartoons.

In cases where the entrant submits a picture of someone other than himself, the prizes will be awarded to the look-a-likes and entrants will receive a Deseret News T-shirt. Parents will receive prizes on behalf of their children; owners will receive prizes on behalf of their pets.
