Elvin Erastus Farr, 85, died at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Wednesday, August 14, 1991.
He was born August 4, 1906, in Dublin, Mexico, to Heber Erastus and Amandas Elizabeth Williams Farr. He married Vontella Burr, September 28, 1929, Sparks, Nevada; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Reared and educated in Binghamton, Arizona, he had lived in Orem and Pleasant Grove and California before moving to St.George in 1985. He had been employed in agriculture, railroad, aircraft industry and real estate.
An active member of the LDS Church, he had served as an ordiance worker in Salt Lake LDS Temple, mission to Los Angeles, Sunday School presidency, and in bishopric.
Family was always a high priority, he loved to be surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life he exemplified a Christ-like love and touched many hearts and lives.
He is survived by his wife, St. George; two sons and four daughters, Lyle Farr, Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Wayne Farr, Layton; Mrs. Chester (Betty Jean) Tillman, Gainsville, Florida; Mrs. Jack (Jane Rae) Smith, Centerville; Mrs. Addy (Carma) Armstrong, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lynn (Elizabeth) Bryson, Bountiful; 35 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; four brothers and seven sisters, Rudolph Farr, Ely, Nevada; Maurice Farr, Payson; Ozwald Farr, Provo; Derel Farr, Orem; Mrs. Thedore (Yvonne) Morgan, Provo; Mrs. Joseph (Winefred) Clayson, Provo; Mrs. Lloyd (Nadine) Rasmussen, Provo; Mrs. Mercelle Atkinson, Mrs. Harvey (Josephine) Smith and Mrs. Clair (Azona) Lloyd, all of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Wesley (Maybell) Dickerson, Orem.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, 1991, 11 a.m. in the Bountiful LDS 5th Ward Chapel. Friends may call August 16, Friday evening, 7-8 p.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary in St. George. Friends may also call Sunday, August 18, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Bountiful 5th Ward Chapel or Monday one hour prior to service at the chapel. Interment: Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road.
