Seymour J. Murray, 65, of Meridian, died Thursday, August 22, 1991, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 26, in Meridian, Idaho. Bishop R. Stephen Davenport, of the Meridian 12th Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiated. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Salt Lake City.Seymour was born May 19, 1926, at Logan, Utah, the third of four children and the only son of Seymour B. and Olive Jensen Murray. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he attended school at Brigham Young University where he met Rena Lynette Cox, whom he married Aug. 21, 1948. He graduated from the University of Utah in electrical engineering, and went to work for IBM, where his career spanned 37 years. He spent most of his career in San Francisco, and was transferred to the IBM Boise office in 1977, where he retired in 1987. Since retirement, he and Lynette had spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, and summers in Meridian.

Seymour was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including bishop, high counselor, and as a member of a stake presidency. At the time of his death, he was a temple tour guide at the Boise LDS Temple.

Sy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include: His wife, Lynette; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Dan Godfrey, Tuslatin, Oregon; Janie and Paul Davis, Clinton; Diane and Tim Rodriguez, Salt Lake City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sheri Murray, Meridian, Idaho; John and Amy Murray, Riverton; 16 grandchildren; two sisters, including Helen Dastrup, Corona, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Karen Rose.
