Leona Josephine Smedley Johnson "Great", 83, died Wednesday, August 28, 1991 at the home of a daughter in Layton.

Born October 11, 1907 in Almy, Wyoming, daughter of John and Janet Dexter Smedley. Married Harry Johnson June 2, 1925 in Woodruff, Utah; he died February 17, 1959. She was a member of the Layton 11th Ward; she was a visiting teacher and an extractor. She lived in Randolph, Ogden, Evanston, and for the past nine years in Layton.Survived by one son and three daughters, Harry (Linda) Johnson, Garland; Mrs. Judge (Avis) Cook, Vallejo, Calif.; Carol Smith, Mrs. Willie (Patsy) Blas, both Layton; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., in the Layton 11th Ward Chapel, 60 West Gordon Avenue. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m., at the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Layton, 250 North Fairfield Road, and on Saturday at the ward chapel from 9:45-11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Randolph City Cemetery with graveside services at 3 p.m.
