Four book-discussion groups will meet at Salt Lake County libraries in September and October.
The first group will discuss Chaim Potok's novel "The Chosen" on Thursday, Sept. 5, 7 p.m. at Tyler Library, 315 Wood Street in Midvale.On Tuesday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m., at Park Library, 4870 S. 2700 West, a group will meet to discuss "What Are People For?," a book of essays by Wendell Berry.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m., at West Jordan Library, 1970 W. 7800 South, adults and children age 8 and over are invited to participate in the first of a six-week series titled "Growing Up With Utah Authors." Barbara Williams, who has written more than forty children's books, will lead the discussion on her book "Frederick the Great."
"Mormon Country," a book by Wallace Stegner, will be discussed Wednesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., at Kearns Library, 5350 S. 4220 West.
Those wishing to participate are encouraged to check out and read the books in advance in preparation for the discussion group meetings.

Additional discussion groups are planned. All sessions begin at 7 p.m.

- "I'm a Fool" on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
- "Racing the Sun" on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
- "Bernice Bobs Her Hair" on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Kearns Library:
- "Riders of the Purple Sage" on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
- "Greening Wheat" on Thursday, Nov. 7.
- "Desert Solitaire" on Thursday, Nov. 21.
