Carrie Snow has lost 80 pounds since she appeared in Salt Lake City last winter, which means she's had to come up with less material, fabricwise, and more material otherwise. The fat jokes ("I don't freebase, I bouillabaisse") don't work anymore.

But the California comedian still likes to poke fun at herself, at other women and at men. Women's insecurities and obsessions, and men's bafflement at both, are the key to Snow's stand-up routine, which she brings to Salt Lake Friday, Sept. 6, and Saturday, Sept. 7.Snow will appear at Johnny B's in Bentley's at the Salt Lake Marriott. Show times are 8 and 10 p.m.; tickets are $6.

Snow, who won the San Francisco Council on Entertainment's Comedienne of the Year Award early in her career, has been funny on "The Tonight Show," MTV's "Half Hour Comedy Hour," "Comic Strip Live" and "The Joan Rivers Show."

She has headlined at comedy hot spots such as Catch a Rising Star in New York City, Caesars at Lake Tahoe and the Improvisation in Hollywood. Her voice, without punch lines, has been featured on commercials for Jordache Jeans and Renault.

Interviewed last winter prior to her first Salt Lake appearance, Snow noted that she might not have reached superstardom yet, but she felt successful anyway.

"I don't have real estate," she explained, "but I do have really nice sweaters."

Snow describes her act as "clean but bawdy."
