Utah postmasters have a special delivery in store for Utah's 1996 centennial celebration.

Following a spirited floor battle with their Philadelphia counterparts, Utah postal officials successfully secured the 1996 convention of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States for Salt Lake City.The Utah effort was spearheaded by Merlin Wright, West Jordan, president of the Utah Chapter of NAPUS; Barbara Hopes, Goshen; Ernest Maes, Sandy; Walter Borla, Helper; Kay Probst, Midway; ArLou Edwards, Mayfield; Arlen Madsen, Salina; and Katy Morgan, Lehi. Pat Holmes and Richard Gilliland of the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau, provided support.

The convention is expected to bring 5,000 postmasters and guests from throughout the country to Salt Lake City.
