The Utah Board of Water Resources has approved spending up to $800,000 over the next five years to help the Ferron Canal and Reservoir Company in Emery County bring the Millsite Dam into compliance with new state dam safety standards.

The effort will begin with a $70,000 project to repair deficient riprap at the dam. The total project cost is expected to reach $923,000.The dam was built in 1970 at a cost of $3.5 million. The renovation work is expected to include spillway renovation as well as other safety work.

Other projects approved include:

- Abraham Irrigation Company, Millard County, for canal lining with repayment over 15 years.

- Providence, Cache County, $562,000 for culinary water system improvements with repayment over 20 years.

- Mantua, Box Elder County, $61,000 for spring improvements with repayment over 20 years.

- Mendon, Cache County, $205,000 for culinary water system improvements with repayment over 17 years.
