The National Park Service has announced it will increase mountain bike patrols on the White Rim Trail, noting a 1,360 percent increase in overnight stays by mountain bikers.

The 100-mile-long trail in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park reported 6,454 visitor nights in 1990, making it one of the premier mountain bike trips in America.The mountain bike patrols will assist the mountain biking public in preserving and protecting the desert environment.
